چکیده

Polycrystalline material microstructure is simulated by Johnson-Mehl model. Finite element analysis is implemented on unit volumes of Johnson-Mehl grain structures, which are aggregates of anisotropic grains orientated by a uniform-random distribution. Monte Carlo techniques are utilized in obtaining the statistical properties of elastic moduli of the ensemble from finite element solutions. The statistical properties of the elastic properties are expressed as functions of the anisotropic crystal properties. Differences in the corresponding computational results between Poisson-Voronoi and Johnson-Mehl models are discussed.

Monte Carlo Simulation of Elastic Properties of Polycrystalline Materials Uning the Johnson-Mehl Model

A finite element based Monte Carlo procedure has been developed to predict the nominal elastic constants of thin films aggregates of anisotropic crystals. The geometry of the microstructure is approximated as a Johnson-Mehl tessellation. The statistical properties of the nominal Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio are expressed as functions of average number of grains within a unit volume and t...

Mechanical Properties of CNT-Reinforced Polymer Nano-composites: A Molecular Dynamics Study

Understanding the mechanism underlying the behavior of polymer-based nanocomposites requires investigation at the molecular level. In the current study, an atomistic simulation based on molecular dynamics was performed to characterize the mechanical properties of polycarbonate (PC) nanocomposites reinforced with single-walled armchair carbon nanotubes (SWCNT). The stiffness matrix and elastic p...

A Statistical Learning Framework for Materials Science: Application to Elastic Moduli of k-nary Inorganic Polycrystalline Compounds

Materials scientists increasingly employ machine or statistical learning (SL) techniques to accelerate materials discovery and design. Such pursuits benefit from pooling training data across, and thus being able to generalize predictions over, k-nary compounds of diverse chemistries and structures. This work presents a SL framework that addresses challenges in materials science applications, wh...

Stress-dependent ultrasonic scattering in polycrystalline materials.

Stress-dependent elastic moduli of polycrystalline materials are used in a statistically based model for the scattering of ultrasonic waves from randomly oriented grains that are members of a stressed polycrystal. The stress is assumed to be homogeneous and can be either residual or generated from external loads. The stress-dependent elastic properties are incorporated into the definition of th...

A THEORETICAL STUDY OF ZEOLITE ABW: ITS MECHANICAL AND AUXETIC PROPERTIES.

Atomistic simulations are carried out for zeolite with ABW framework. The structure is modeled and force field simulations are preformed to investigate its elastic properties, bulk, shear modulus and auxeticity. Bulk moduli (Ks), Shear moduli (G), and Poissons ratios (ν) were found to be Ks=79.71725 GPa, G=16.93265 GPa, νxy = -0.2207, νxz= -0.5730, νyx= -0.71717, νyz=0.87013, νzx= -0.33097 and ...
